Business Analyst Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst to join our team at CB Canada. As a Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting our business initiatives by analyzing business needs and developing solutions to meet those needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and develop functional requirements and process workflows.
  • Lead business analysis activities to translate business requirements into functional requirements and process workflows.
  • Analyze and document business processes and requirements.
  • Develop business cases and participate in the development of RFx processes and contracts.
  • Lead discussions with business teams to elicit, capture, and document requirements.
  • Create business, process, data, and workflow models to complement requirements.
  • Act as a liaison facilitating requirements between the client's project team and 3rd party vendors.
  • Perform requirements tracking through the development of traceability matrices.
  • Develop, define, and build application-based business cases, briefing notes, and decision sheets.
  • Create use cases, test plans, and work with business areas to create user acceptance test scripts.
  • Perform testing with system developers and/or business leads to ensure overall functionality and technical quality of deliverables.
  • Create functional specifications for conversions, upgrades, interfaces, reports, forms, and workflows.
  • Ensure requirements for changes and enhancements are properly defined, have the required approvals, and follow appropriate channels for testing and migration.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for newly adopted systems, system upgrades, or modified services.
  • Facilitate walking the client or user through each step of the process, identifying and making suggestions for improvements.
  • Contribute to Privacy and Security reviews and assessments to help define risk, contingency, and mitigation strategies.
  • Work with business units to identify and develop and deliver training to support end users.
  • Create Service Level Agreements and Standard Operating Procedures with service and support.
  • Conduct independent research to troubleshoot and learn related technologies for project-related applications and services.
  • Provide routine systems and end-user support related to applications supported by the Application Services team.
  • Partner with various departments on tasks related to efficiency initiatives, including automating tasks and/or process streamlining.
  • Monitor and respond to IMIT Intake requests and may conduct Post-Implementation Reviews.
  • Perform current as-is analysis and document process flows.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to less senior team members.

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of Business Analysis experience in enterprise-scale projects with an expert understanding of the underlying technical architecture.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of BC/Canadian healthcare project experience as a Business Analyst.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of technical experience with mobile device, infrastructure, database, SharePoint, web application, cloud, desktop/laptop, network, security.
  • Excellent communication skills and command of the English language.
  • Experience providing training/orientation to adults on new technology and concepts.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Specific knowledge of IIBA - BABOK guide and standards.
  • Solid working knowledge of the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
  • Solid working knowledge of business analysis documentation standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of current WAN technologies, including MPLS, DMVPN, Satellite, Microwave, and Wireless.
  • Knowledge of Network Security Design methodology.
  • Knowledge of mobile device, infrastructure, database, SharePoint, and web solutions.

  • Sensitivity to and understanding of key issues and opportunities for BC First Nations health and wellness.
  • Proven ability to work independently, as well as part of the team, to manage and prioritize, effectively, multiple competing projects/initiatives.
  • Is a team player with a strong customer service orientation and diplomacy while dealing with multiple stakeholders.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field required or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Occupational Certification:

  • Appropriate certifications and other professional development/continuing education relevant to the role preferred (e.g., CBAP).
  • ITIL Foundation Version 3.0 Certification.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification is preferred.
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification is preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) is preferred.
