Nurse Practitioner Role Overview

The Nurse Practitioner is a key member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at BC Children's Hospital. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing practice, with a focus on patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and review of medical history
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, in collaboration with the healthcare team
  • Prescribe medications and order diagnostic tests as needed
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health and wellness
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Minimum of 4 years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
