Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at BC Children's Hospital. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients and their families, including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions, and initiating treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat patients with undifferentiated diseases, illnesses, and conditions within the scope of practice.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic investigations, and develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Prescribe medications and provide first-line care in emergencies.
  • Establish priorities for patient management, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate with patients and families about health findings, diagnoses, and prognoses.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess and diagnose patient status, and participate in research contributing to improved patient care and advances in nursing.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staff education and professional development, and develop and implement policies and procedures related to nursing and interdisciplinary practice.
Requirements
  • Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Eligibility to complete the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) through the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP).
  • Minimum of 4 years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
  • Ability to perform the full scope of Nurse Practitioner duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to define and articulate the specific areas of practice and client population for whom the NP is competent to provide health care services.
