The Community Coordinator plays a vital role in representing Thompson Rivers University in local communities. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate programming, services, and initial advising for TRU in the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting educational needs assessments and maintaining contact with local educators, Indigenous groups, and community organizations.
  • Developing partnerships with industry and government agencies to provide relevant training.
  • Scheduling courses, creating course budgets, and maintaining financial records.
  • Preparing contracts for instructional staff and evaluating their performance.
  • Assisting in the development of marketing materials and recruiting instructors.

The successful candidate must be able to adapt to changing situations, make quick decisions, and interact with a broad cross-section of the public. They must also be a team player and contribute to the overall Community Education department.

Reports to the Associate Director, Community Education & Workforce Training.

Required qualifications include:

  • Two years of post-secondary education in Business or Education.
  • Provincial Instructor's Diploma preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Significant coordination experience and project management skills.
  • Culturally sensitive and inclusive.
