Salary and BenefitsWe are committed to providing competitive compensation packages, including a salary range of CAD $41.42 - $59.52 per hour, comprehensive health benefits, and a pension plan. As part of the new provincial collective agreement, regular status nurses receive an increase to overall compensation, with 100% of benefits employer-paid and no out-of-pocket expenses. Additionally, employees are immediately enrolled in a defined pension plan and eligible for 87% maternity leave top-up.
Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to patients in an emergency department. Responsibilities include:
- Assessing patients and collecting information from various sources using skills of observation, communication, data review and physical assessment
- Making a nursing diagnosis of the patient's condition and determining whether the condition can be improved or resolved by an appropriate nursing intervention
- Planning, performing and evaluating nursing interventions and care
As a key member of the interprofessional care team, the Registered Nurse collaborates with patients and their families/care givers in developing the care plan and encourages family participation in the development, implementation and ongoing modification of the care plan.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will require:
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Completion of applicable post graduate course work in emergency, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience in emergency
You will also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to promote person-centered care that demonstrates empathy for patients and families/care givers, sensitivity to diverse cultures and preferences, and patient advocacy.
