Job Summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Bridge Engineer to coordinate and administer the design and construction of the Region's bridge construction and rehabilitation program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of projects by consultants and contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer the design and construction of bridge projects, ensuring compliance with national codes and department guidelines, standards, policies, and acts.
  • Review and evaluate consultant proposals, and serve as a member of the Consultant Selection Committee to provide recommendations for project award.
  • Schedule and attend construction pre-commencement meetings to ensure adherence to department guidelines and standards.
  • Conduct construction site inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory permits, approvals, and authorizations.
  • Review engineering reports, designs, drawings, and tender documents to ensure compliance with department guidelines and standards.
  • Identify technical or operational issues that require attention for future improvement.
  • Review project expenditures, including consultant invoices and contractor progress estimates, and provide recommendations for payment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and provide innovative solutions.
