The Government of Alberta is seeking a dedicated Professional Engineering Technologist to become a vital part of the Regional teams within the Construction and Maintenance Division. This role is designed for a detail-oriented and self-motivated individual who will undertake a variety of bridge-related responsibilities. These tasks encompass inspections, evaluations, maintenance, and rehabilitation requirements, as well as planning and report assessments, alongside construction activities within the team. You will be part of a group that prioritizes the development and enhancement of skills for all members while executing infrastructure projects in a dynamic setting.
Reporting directly to the Bridge Manager, the Bridge Technologist will play a crucial role in the daily management, execution, and oversight of bridge construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance initiatives within the Region. The selected candidate will collaborate with consultants and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective inspections, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of various bridge structures. The primary objective of this position is to ensure a safe and well-maintained bridge infrastructure for the traveling public.
The essential duties of the Bridge Technologist include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the implementation of the Bridge Maintenance Program across Provincial Highways.
- Collaborating with Engineering Consultants to provide oversight and technical guidance for a range of maintenance projects.
- Conducting contract administration tasks.
- Supporting the execution of additional bridge programs.
- Offering assistance to external stakeholders.
