Position Overview

The Government of Alberta is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Professional Engineering Technologist to join its Regional teams within the Construction and Maintenance Division. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity and safety of bridge infrastructure through various tasks including inspections, evaluations, and maintenance planning. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment focused on infrastructure development and maintenance.

Reporting directly to the Bridge Manager, the Bridge Technologist will play a crucial role in the administration and execution of bridge construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance initiatives across the Region. This position involves collaboration with consultants and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective inspections and maintenance of various bridge structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of the Bridge Maintenance Program on Provincial Highways.
  • Collaborate with Engineering Consultants to provide oversight and technical guidance for diverse maintenance projects.
  • Conduct contract administration and ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Support the execution of additional bridge-related programs.
  • Offer assistance and expertise to external stakeholders involved in bridge projects.

This role is essential in maintaining a safe and reliable bridge infrastructure for the traveling public, contributing to the overall safety and efficiency of transportation within the Region.
