About the Role

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our team in Toronto, ON. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading project monitoring and control activities, ensuring timely delivery of design work packages, and collaborating with technical teams and customers to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project monitoring and control activities, including schedule management, risk register updates, and change orders.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and customers to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, resource allocation plans, and risk management strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, including CMMI, CENELEC, AREMA, IEEE, and IPC.
  • Manage project documentation, including configuration management and transmittal processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a project engineer or lead systems/design engineer.
  • Prior experience with project management, including budget management, schedule monitoring, and risk management.
  • Strong understanding of engineering lifecycles, delivery, and HW/SW integration lifecycle.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering Qualifications/University Degree or Equivalent Technical Background.

Desired Skills

  • Prior experience in the rail or rail transit domain.
  • Prior experience supporting bids and proposals for new work.
  • Experience with overall systems architecture design.
  • Experience with robust, mission-critical control systems.
  • Experience with providing leadership in either a functional management or project management role.

Education and Languages

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering. Proficient in English.
