About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Leader to join our team as a Vice-Principal at Chief Zzeh Gittlit School in Old Crow, Yukon. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide educational leadership and support to teachers and staff to ensure high-quality instruction and student outcomes.
  • Develop and implement school-wide initiatives to promote student engagement, motivation, and academic achievement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community members to build strong relationships and foster a positive school culture.
  • Support the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional programs that meet the needs of all students.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and developing strategies to address any gaps.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Education degree and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Proven experience in educational leadership, with a focus on student-centered, strength-based, and holistic approaches.
  • Strong teaching and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and community members.
  • Passion for land-based, experiential education and a commitment to inclusive education practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Desired Qualities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation government, Educational Support Workers, community Elders, and families.
  • Experience implementing restorative practices and positive behavioral interventions and supports.
  • Experience implementing effective support systems to assist at-risk students.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the needs of both elementary and high school learners.
