Job Description

As a Machinist and Tool Designer, you will be responsible for:

  1. Verifying dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, or dial indicators.
  2. Setting up and operating conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools to cut, bore, grind, or shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
  3. Visualizing and computing dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies based on specifications.
  4. Studying blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
  5. Fitting and assembling parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine tools, hand tools, or welders.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work various shifts on a rotational basis.
  • Ability to read drawings, manuals, notes, and designs.
  • Exceptional knowledge of various machining and tool making equipment.
  • Experience working with progressive and transfer presses/dies.
  • Experience with steel cutting drills.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Operation of overhead crane.
  • Physical fitness for heavy lifting of 50 lbs.
  • Tool & Die Maker certification required.
  • 1-2 years' experience required.
