About the Role

The City of Whitehorse is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Infrastructure to lead our Engineering, Fleet & Transportation, and Water and Waste Services departments. As a key member of our Senior Management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient operations of these critical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and supervision to a team of professionals, with a focus on delegation, clear objectives, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement City-wide programs and services, including budget planning and management.
  • Interface with other Directors and stakeholders to ensure coordinated effort in the provision of services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines.
  • Recruit, coach, and supervise direct reporting staff, as well as indirect staff through delegation.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of corporate goals, objectives, and policies.
  • Act as City Manager as assigned.
Requirements
  • Masters' degree in a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of progressively responsible administrative and technical experience in a government and/or private sector setting, with at least 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proven leadership and supervision skills, with the ability to delegate, set clear expectations, train, and develop staff.
  • Experience working in a union environment with collective agreements.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant Municipal, Territorial, and Federal legislation.
  • Excellent management track record, with specific accomplishments in directing budgets and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication, team building, and problem-solving skills.
