A permanent full-time Plumber position is available in Whitehorse, Yukon, working 80 hours bi-weekly.

The Department of Highways and Public Works provides essential infrastructure and services to Yukon communities.

This role is part of the Property Management team, responsible for maintaining government buildings and ensuring safe workplaces.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, tact, and diplomacy to provide quality service and resolve client issues effectively.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of plumbing and mechanical system maintenance tasks, including preventative maintenance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Repairing, installing, and maintaining plumbing, heating, sprinkler, and HVAC systems in residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.
  • Evaluating and planning small mechanical projects, including providing cost estimates.
  • Providing quality service and resolving client issues effectively.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills, and knowledge:

  • Journeyman Plumber with interprovincial Red Seal certificate.
  • Experience in the plumbing trade, including experience evaluating and planning small mechanical projects.
  • Strong communication skills, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Hold a valid Interprovincial Journeyman Plumber Certification.
  • Hold a valid Yukon Class 5 driver's licence.
  • Obtain and maintain RCMP vulnerable sector check.
  • Obtain and maintain Transport Security Clearance/RAIC Pass.
  • Travel and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 22 kilograms.
  • Use personal protective equipment.
