About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Manager to join our Global Banking team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in defining and developing transformational opportunities in Global Transaction Banking (GTB) while ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Focus: Champion a customer-centric culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Opportunity Development: Support the ongoing assessment and development of opportunities for GTB, performing external client exploration of related business challenges across priority markets, and executing the analysis and communication of conceptual opportunities.
  • Strategy Development: Contribute to the definition and development of the GTB strategy and roadmap through research of global payments trends and disruptions, and the analysis of their applicability to markets within Scotiabank's global footprint.
  • Business Partnership: Work directly with business line partners to discover and define GTB opportunities in alignment with the Bank's global strategic priorities.
  • Value Quantification: Develop approaches to quantify and articulate the value of opportunities discovered.
  • Problem Solving: Design and lead problem-solving sessions, workshops, and interviews with cross-functional/business line working team members and subject matter experts.
  • Recommendations: Synthesize findings and present clear recommendations and implementation plans to ensure impactful project outcomes to senior leaders within the Bank.
  • Annual Planning: Support annual business planning activities.
  • Risk Management: Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Operational Efficiency: Actively pursue efficient operations of your respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adherence to day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • High-Performance Environment: Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Corporate Strategy, Consulting, or strategy experience within a Financial Services company.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of the domestic and global transaction banking and payments landscape, and market usage across segments.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly articulate and communicate complex business concepts associated with the transaction banking domain.
  • Design Thinking: Experience in applying design thinking principles to define and solve business problems.
  • Agile Environment: Comfort working in an agile, matrixed environment.
  • Payments Modernization: Hands-on experience with payments modernization programs either domestically or globally (e.g., US, UK, Australia, Europe).
  • Global Transaction Banking Trends: General knowledge of global transaction banking trends and technologies.
  • Technical Skills: Strong technical ability with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual: Spanish and English.
