About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist (OT) plays a vital role in our healthcare team, working under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. The OT collaborates with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain optimal function in areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. This involves providing consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up in various settings, including hospitals, homes, and communities.

The OT establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, manages a busy caseload, and uses clinical judgment and decision-making skills to prioritize issues daily. They provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers, functioning as a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional healthcare team.

The OT contributes to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines, as well as supervising OT Assistants. They adhere to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and the professional standards of their licensing body, the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists.

About You

We seek a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist who possesses:

  • Masters or Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy
  • Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
  • Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours and Compensation

This is a long-assignment, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The successful candidate may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
