Procurement Manager Job Description

At Bronte Construction, we're seeking a skilled Procurement Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Estimating Department, you'll be responsible for managing our sourcing capabilities and supply chain. Your expertise will help us acquire the most cost-effective deals and reduce procurement expenses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the procurement and purchasing staff, including performance evaluations.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier prequalification, maintaining a master list and interacting with market competitiveness.
  • Create and foster relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring project milestones are achievable.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with project staff regarding subcontractor and supplier performance.
  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, and documentation as required.
  • Work with Estimating and Operations to develop and implement bidding strategies.
  • Assist with inventory management, including pricing, analysis, controls, and year-end reporting.
  • Examine plans and specifications for deficiencies, construction issues, and technical questions.
  • Enforce Bronte's standards of safety, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, ethics, and core values.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of contract documents to ensure procurement requirements are met within budget.
  • Establish and manage the procurement schedule for jobs.
  • Oversee and manage the bid, negotiation, and award processes for subcontractors and vendors.
  • Evaluate available subcontractors to determine optimal selection for projects.
  • Work with Operations to manage subcontractor and vendor failures, claims, liens, surety issues, etc.
  • Prepare and issue subcontracts, following up for timely execution.
  • Manage insurance certificates, bonds, and consent of surety for resource reductions and final payments.
  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing complex capital projects, tenders, and contract documents to ensure appropriate contracting strategies and contractual clauses are applied.
  • Develop processes and procedures to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate potential contractual, final, and performance risks.
  • Assist project teams with documenting, evaluating, and processing change requests.
  • Foresee potential claims and manage them with strong foresight to reach a resolution.
  • Manage construction delay and impact claims as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum of ten years of construction experience, including three years of Procurement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, risk management, and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of contractual language, indemnity, insurance, and company policy.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with current software and programs (Microsoft Office Suite of programs, SAP, SharePoint).
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
