About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Contract Administration Specialist to join our team in Markham, ON. As an integral part of our electrical group, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution of electrical contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Administer contract deliverables in accordance with the Consultant agreement, ensuring timely completion.
  • Ensure project specifications and objectives are met, identifying potential issues proactively.
  • Review contract design packages for errors and omissions.
  • Maintain detailed records of contractor work, contract progress, and inspection milestones.
  • Obtain sufficient data throughout the contract lifecycle to substantiate claims.
  • Inspect installations on site to ensure compliance with plans, standards, and specifications prior to approving work and payments.
  • Prepare job reports for clients detailing completed work and photo references (as required) on a monthly basis.
  • Complete job reports, including requests for information, contemplated revisions, change orders, field and pricing reviews.
  • Issue all site reports.
  • Oversee Change Requests and Claims.
  • Manage responses to Contractor's RFI's and clarification requests;
  • Review construction site installation progress to ensure local building code requirements are met for partial building occupancy, full building occupancy, and substantial completion.
  • Effectively manage contract administration for multiple projects.
  • Address field issues and questions related to electrical and/or mechanical engineering or other matters as required.
  • Liaise with architects, contractors, owners, specialty consultants, project managers, and job captains, providing customer service that meets client needs.
  • Coordinate site visits with designers to educate on construction contract administration processes.
  • Promote collaboration with Project Managers, Engineers, Contract Administrators, Designers, Inspectors, and other staff as required.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients regarding project status, site issues, and project quality, resolving issues as necessary.

Requirements

  • A Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology/Technician.
  • 5+ years of experience in inspecting and supervising electrical building services construction.
  • Sound knowledge of building codes, provincial health and safety acts, design standards, construction administration, task manuals, materials, and methods associated with building construction.
  • Familiarity with required computer software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience reviewing drawings in REVIT and AutoCAD.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, able to communicate effectively with internal and external clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment driven by project deadlines.
  • Highly innovative with attention to detail and ability to accept direction.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience supervising other staff members, with aspirations leading to management roles.
  • Familiarity with project planning, risk management, cost management, schedule management, and contract document preparation/administration would be advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license and own vehicle are required.
