Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, providing social services to the homeless and vulnerable populations in an urban area.

Services will be delivered in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre, social service or charity agency, and shelter for the homeless.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare Reports: Prepare reports or case histories for clients.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative and office activities.
  • Client Assessment: Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services.
  • Skills Assessment: Assess client's relevant skill strengths and development needs.
  • Follow-up Assessments: Conduct follow-up assessments.
  • Service Delivery: Develop, co-ordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide suicide and crisis intervention.
  • Conflict Resolution: Resolve conflict situations.
  • Liaison: Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients.
  • Program Statistics: Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research.
  • Client Accompaniment: Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.

  • ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
  • NVCI: Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
  • Cultural Awareness: Cultural Awareness Training
  • First Aid: First Aid Certificate
