Job Title: Educational Program Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Program Assistant to join our team at Georges P. Vanier Junior High. The successful candidate will provide support to our educational programs, working closely with teachers and staff to ensure the success of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to teachers and staff in the implementation of educational programs
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualized education plans
  • Support students with daily living skills, such as toileting and personal care
  • Assist with the use of assistive technology and other medical-related procedures
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed
  • Collaborate with other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective support team

Requirements:

  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
  • Trained or willing to be trained in toileting, personal care, and other medical-related procedures

Assets:

  • Experience working with students with Down's Syndrome
  • Experience working with students with Autism
  • Related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution

Rate of Pay:

This is a 10-month position with a work schedule in accordance with the school year calendar. The starting annual salary for a 100% position is $35,817.70, including 4% vacation pay.

Daily Hours of Work:

50% Position = 3.5 hours (includes one 15-minute paid break)

80% Position = 6.1 hours (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)

100% Position = 7.5 hours (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and two 15-minute paid breaks)
