Job Title: Educational Program Assistant

Join our team at John Martin Junior High as an Educational Program Assistant. This role is responsible for providing support to students with diverse needs, working collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs, implementing strategies and interventions as outlined in their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Assist teachers with lesson planning, preparation, and implementation, ensuring that students with special needs are fully integrated into the classroom.
  • Support students with daily living skills, such as toileting, personal care, and use of assistive technology.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement behavior plans and strategies to support students with challenging behaviors.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff members to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
Requirements:
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and participate in light physical activity.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Assets:
  • Experience working with students with autism or other special needs.
  • Related diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution, including a formal practicum placement.
