As a Peer Support Worker at Senior Persons Living Connected, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals living with mental health and/or addictions. Your primary responsibility will be to engage clients in experiential learning of life skills and provide support in their recovery journey. You will also participate in outreach and group activities to support the Care Services teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide support and empowerment to clients living with mental health conditions and/or addictions
Assist Care Managers and GAIN team members in carrying out care plans and recommendations
Participate in all aspects of outreach activities
Organize, facilitate, and present educational groups about mental health and/or addictions to raise awareness and address stigma
Requirements:
1-2 years' experience working in health/social services, providing support to individuals with addictions from a harm reduction perspective
Lived experience with the mental health and addictions system and has been on a continuous journey of recovery
Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to speak a second language an asset
