Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join our team. As a Commercial Underwriter, you will be responsible for conducting and reviewing transactional information to request title and off-title searches, reviewing documents, discussing problems with customers, underwriting defects, and issuing policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive search service requests and title insurance orders
  • Conduct title and off-title searches and follow-ups
  • Review underlying documentation, including title reports, searches, surveys, and other related documents
  • Underwrite and prepare title insurance policies
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding policy coverage, underwriting, rates, and procedures
  • Provide superior customer service and maintain strong customer relationships
Requirements
  • 5 years of experience as a real estate law clerk in a law firm working on real estate files from open to close
  • Professional and customer service-focused, with excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to pay attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Law Clerk designation preferred
  • Title insurance experience an asset
