As a Commercial Underwriter, your responsibilities will include analyzing and reviewing transactional information to request title and off-title searches from various municipalities, examining documents, addressing issues with clients, underwriting defects, and issuing policies. A solid understanding of real estate law and the intricacies of real estate transactions is essential.

Your Contributions:

  • Receive search service requests and title insurance orders through various channels.
  • Conduct title and off-title searches and follow up to provide timely responses to clients.
  • Review documentation, including title reports, searches, surveys, and related materials.
  • Underwrite and prepare title insurance policies.
  • Address client inquiries regarding policy coverage, underwriting, rates, and procedures.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong client relationships.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a real estate law clerk in a law firm, managing real estate files from initiation to completion.
  • Professional demeanor with a strong focus on customer service and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Law Clerk designation is preferred.
  • Experience in title insurance is an asset.
