Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Law Clerk/Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting and issuing commercial title insurance policies for commercial real estate transactions across Canada (excluding Quebec) with a focus on national law firms customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review lawyer's title memorandums, due diligence, searches in order to prepare title insurance policies for commercial real estate transactions
  • Provide information to customers regarding commercial title insurance coverage, underwriting guidelines, endorsements, quotes, and procedures
  • A strong customer focus with the ability to effectively build and maintain collaborative relationships with customers as well as business partners across the organization
  • Support team members by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and collaborating in order to meet deadlines
Requirements
  • Law Clerk Diploma or relevant work experience
  • Ten (10) years' experience as a real estate law clerk in a law firm and/or title insurance environment handling commercial and/or residential real estate transactions
  • Technical knowledge of the practice of real estate law and an understanding of the mechanics of a real estate transaction
  • Professional and customer service-focused, with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Excellent computer skills – MS Office Suite
