About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Commercial Underwriter to join our team. As a Commercial Underwriter, you will be responsible for conducting and reviewing transactional information to request title and off-title searches from various municipalities, reviewing documents, discussing problems with customers, underwriting defects, and issuing policies. Technical knowledge of the practice of real estate law and an understanding of the mechanics of a real estate transaction are crucial.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive search service requests and title insurance orders
  • Conduct title and off-title searches and follow-ups
  • Review underlying documentation, including title reports, searches, surveys, and other related documents
  • Underwrite and prepare title insurance policies
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding policy coverage, underwriting, rates, and procedures
  • Provide superior customer service and maintain strong customer relationships
Requirements
  • 5 years of experience as a real estate law clerk in a law firm working on real estate files from open to close
  • Professional and customer service-focused, with excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to pay attention to detail while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Law Clerk designation preferred
  • Title insurance experience an asset
