We are currently seeking a Lab Patient Technician to support our operations in Owen Sound, ON. This position requires flexibility to work at both Owen Sound locations as per operational demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients, gather necessary information, clarify the specimen collection process, and confirm that patients have adhered to required test protocols prior to specimen collection.
- Conduct phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
- Carry out specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing associated documentation.
- Maintain client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Input essential patient demographics, requisition details, and other information pertinent to processing test results.
- Prepare specimens for transportation and subsequent testing.
The ideal candidate will prioritize exceptional customer/patient service and possess the ability to connect with patients and clients, even in challenging situations. Essential qualities include empathy, adaptability, flexibility, and strong problem-solving skills. Additional requirements include:
- Graduation from an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
