Key Responsibilities- Manage the design of mixed-use and multi-residential construction projects, acting as the primary point of contact for Killam's Senior Executives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement design concepts, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Procure and manage design teams, including the preparation of Requests for Proposals and evaluation of submitted proposals.
- Chair and minute design meetings, ensuring effective communication and decision-making among team members.
- Develop and maintain energy-efficient design solutions, including reviewing and commenting on energy modeling reports.
- Review and revise Killam's Owner Project Requirements to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
- Consult with Operations and Property Management teams to understand project requirements and ensure seamless execution.
- Review design drawings and specifications against budget, quality, maintainability, energy efficiency, constructability, accuracy, and completeness.
- Assist in developing and monitoring design schedules and budgets, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
- Prepare regular progress reports, highlighting issues, resolutions, risks, budget, and schedule.
- Attend design and construction meetings, site visits, and other relevant events to review issues, seek input, and provide direction.
- Understand and comment on building envelope, waterproofing, and insulation details, as well as mechanical and electrical systems.
- Review construction quality and identify deficiencies, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Review and approve design/consulting team invoices, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
- Bachelor's degree in architecture or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in multi-unit residential design, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide design teams.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to understand, review, and comment on engineering and architectural plans, as well as identify and resolve design issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
- Some travel required, with flexibility to adapt to changing project demands.
