In accordance with the established vision and values of the Interior Health Authority, this role is part of a multidisciplinary team in the KGH Cardiac Surgery department. The Associate Physician will work alongside the cardiac surgery team to provide high-quality patient care.

About the Role

This position involves working as a surgical assistant within the Cardiac Operation Rooms at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH). Key responsibilities include assisting with preparation and positioning of patients for surgery, cannulation/decannulation for Cardio-pulmonary Bypass, and supporting the surgeon during operations.

The successful candidate will also contribute to patient care outside of the operating room by ensuring patients are ready for surgery, rounding on post-operative patients, and communicating with the cardiac surgery nurse practitioner, triage surgeon, and most responsible physician regarding patient condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs surgical assist for open heart and other cardiac surgery procedures.
  • Provides on-call services for the cardiac surgery program as a surgical assistant.
  • Participates in quality activities and performance reviews as required by the Department Head.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 CAD, depending on experience and qualifications.
