We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cook Team Lead to join our Food Services team at The Salvation Army. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising the dietary aides and cooks, ensuring the smooth operation of our food services.
Key Responsibilities- Food Preparation and Service: Assist with receiving and storage of products, prepare food for special events, and cook, bake, and taste food on a consistent basis.
- Team Leadership: Supervise cooks and dietary aides, provide guidance and support, and ensure a positive and productive work environment.
- Menu Planning and Execution: Assist with menu planning, preparation, and execution, ensuring that meals are of high quality and well-presented.
- Inventory Management: Assist with ordering food supplies, managing inventory, and ensuring that all food safety standards are met.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with food suppliers, online vendors, and team members, and work collaboratively to ensure smooth delivery of service.
- Education: High school diploma and a Culinary Arts Cooking certificate or equivalent.
- Experience: Five years' experience in quantity cooking, preferably in the service industry.
- Certifications: Food Safe Level 1 and WHMIS certificate.
- Other Requirements: Current negative TB test and able to pass a Criminal Record check.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality, able to lead and inspire team members.
- Organization and Time Management: Excellent organization and time management skills, able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with team members, food suppliers, and online vendors.
