Job Summary

The Regional Municipality of York is seeking a highly skilled Financial Planning Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our comprehensive funding strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain complex financial models to optimize the use of debt and reserves, ensuring alignment with our capital program and funding strategy.
  • Debt and Reserve Management: Analyze and manage our debt and reserve positions, identifying opportunities for optimization and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Investor Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with investors and credit rating agencies, providing timely and accurate information to support our debt issuance and reserve management activities.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to debt and reserve management, ensuring alignment with our corporate objectives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including municipal officials, lawyers, and bond rating agencies, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present regular reports and analyses to support our funding strategy and debt management activities.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in Business Administration, Mathematics, or Economics, or a Chartered Accountant designation.
  • Experience: Proven experience in financial planning, debt management, and reserve analysis, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and municipal finance.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-technical stakeholders.
