Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Advisor to join our team at The Regional Municipality of York. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial planning and analysis support to our organization, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including budget to actual variances, to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Design and maintain financial reports and databases to support financial planning and analysis.
  • Implement and administer financial information systems to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
  • Develop and maintain performance indicators to measure service efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Collect and input financial data into operational statistics and performance reports.
  • Liaise with the Finance Department to ensure compliance with municipal accounting practices and regulations.
  • Maintain asset management, including infrastructure life cycle costing and capital replacement reserve fund management.
  • Meet departmental accounting schedules and deadlines.
  • Design and maintain financial database software applications to support financial operations.
  • Prepare and develop annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Represent the organization on task forces, committees, and projects as assigned.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to assigned staff.

Qualifications:
  • University degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CPA) and registration with the Ontario Association.
  • Experience in financial analysis, design, and implementation of computer applications.
  • Demonstrated ability in the organization's core competencies.
  • Knowledge of related municipal, provincial, and federal legislation, policies, and procedures.
