Job Summary

Safely operate a heavy-duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes, ensuring a clean and safe vehicle and adhering to Occupational Health & Safety and Ministry of Transportation requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle using standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) and note all issues for corrective review/repair.
  • Cover shifts as needed for trash, recycling, and compost, working closely with Route Managers to improve route efficiencies and identify problem or unsafe accounts.
  • Immediately report any unsafe situations or service calls to Route Manager or Dispatch before attempting service.
  • Participate in all scheduled training, briefings, and meetings as required by Route Manager.
  • Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch, assisting other company drivers as directed.
  • Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Communicate customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Manager.
  • Position containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, containers are set in an upright position, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
  • Follow route assignments throughout the day and complete all documentation when checking-in at the end of the route.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Hold a current DZ or Class 3 license or higher with an air-brake endorsement.
  • Acceptable driving record required.
