Accounts Payable Specialist

Mastronardi Produce is a leading greenhouse vegetable company in North America, and we're seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and a proven track record of maintaining vendor accounts, ensuring the validity of all charges to the company, and reconciling vendor invoices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Reconciling company prepared documentation or vendor packing slips received by the company to vendor invoices.
  • Posting vendor invoices to appropriate general ledger accounts and ensuring that all reportable taxes have been identified and posted properly.
  • Matching all appropriate documentation (company prepared, packing slip/bill of ladings, invoices and statements) to prepare invoices for payment.
  • Preparing and/or processing payments to the vendors.
  • Reconciling supplier statements to company records to ensure completeness of all vendor charges.
  • Assisting with related special projects as required.
  • Basic filing or relevant vendor documentation, including invoices, bill of ladings, cheque remittances and other vendor correspondence.
  • Performing general office duties, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience.
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Office, proficient in Excel.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV considered an asset.
  • Self-motivation, ability to work autonomously with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Basic analytical skills required, strong math and communication skills needed.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Respectful and able to deal tactfully with customers, and other employees.
  • Company confidentiality agreement will be required.
  • Willingness to work independently, with minimal supervision and take ownership of job.
  • Willingness to work with a high degree of professionalism and personal integrity.
