Business Technology Manager, Communication and Documentation Specialist

Job Summary:

The Business Technology Manager, Communication and Documentation Specialist will work collaboratively with the North American Commercial Banking (NACB) businesses on complex Commercial Lending System communication and documentation requirements. The Role will write, publish, and maintain Commercial Lending Systems User Guides, Job Aids, and other NACB standards, operating procedures, and/or manuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine and document content requirements; communicate to business partners on content requirements to ensure document requests are received in a content-ready format.
  • Collaborate with technology teams and business partners to understand key Commercial Lending System functionalities and processes and create User Guides, Job Aids, and other NACB standard operating procedures and/or manuals that provide step-by-step instructions on how to utilize these core Systems.
  • Interpret process maps, flow, and various business documentation and translate these items into clear and concise documentation.
  • Understand content, assess impacts, and engage stakeholders as required to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness of communication solutions.
  • Collect required information for review and analysis.
  • Analyze content and assess impact on existing policies and other communication initiatives. Information may be considered confidential and require appropriate handling.
  • Develop technical Systems communication solutions, circulars, and operational/procedural documents, and make recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Translate complex technical information into high-quality communication and documentation that are clear and concise.
  • Recommend the engagement of additional stakeholders, obtain required concurrences, and approvals.
  • Execute work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service of all communications and tasks.
  • Work in collaboration with change management functions related to procedural communications.
  • Build effective relationships with content issuers and SMEs to support business/groups in the delivery of documentation.
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholders.
  • Support Commercial Lending Systems procedural governance in collaboration with internal/external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Instructional Writing, Technical Writing, Writing.
  • Understand technical and business requirements and translate into clear and concise documentation.
  • Participate/lead planning, development, and execution of technical communication solutions for the Commercial Lending Systems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on relevant Commercial Lending Systems for internal/external stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance knowledge of Commercial Lending Systems procedural, policy, and documentation standards, processes, and frameworks in support of enterprise strategies and business/group objectives.
  • Planning, researching, and writing internal procedure documentation to support the Commercial Lending Systems.
  • Maintain the NACB document library and content repository.
  • Create and maintain Commercial Lending Systems Job Aids, User Guides.
  • Participate in change management plans, activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Mentoring junior Technical Writers.
  • Build solid relationships across the North American Commercial Bank.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of Technical Writing experience, including experience in documenting software from an end-user perspective.
  • A degree or post-graduate diploma in technical writing, communications, journalism, or a related discipline. - Preferred.
  • 1 – 3 years of experience achieving competing priorities in a tight deadline environment and working independently.
  • In-depth/expert knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software.

  • Experience with high-complexity communications across the bank, including Commercial Lending and Commercial Lending Systems.

Salary: $68,126,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
