Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Superintendent to join our team at Bantrel. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the installation of pre-assembled units (PAUs), heavy haul and heavy lifting operations, and structural steel erection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the effective implementation of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) processes and procedures.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors' operations, ensuring that activities are completed within schedule and budget, and in compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Validate the sequence of activities and level of effort, and provide support to the area manager to complete the execution analysis.
  • Operate day-to-day, prioritizing activities in line with broader objectives.
  • Liaise and coordinate with field engineering, site material management, contracts, project controls, quality, HSE, common services, and commissioning teams.
  • Contribute to site-wide traffic management planning and management of temporary infrastructure.
  • Manage the review, monitoring, and communication of changes for simultaneous operations (SIMOPs).
  • Participate in constructability reviews to ensure upcoming scopes are thoroughly planned and do not include fatal flaws.
  • Work closely with other superintendents within the surface process IPT and backfill for them during shift and when on leave.
  • Manage time effectively and adhere to deadlines.
  • Participate in the Jansen Risk Program as a Risk Owner or Control Owner.
  • Validate reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, job manpower forecasts, and provide input related to cost forecasts.
  • Review and approve contractor permits and requests.
  • Adhere to all project job instructions, SOPs, Bantrel Construction procedures, and corporate code of ethics.
Requirements
  • Actively engaged in workplace HSE, with a strong understanding of the importance of HSE and quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors' performance, maintaining a high standard, developing a culture of inclusion, and fostering a collaborative approach.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Extensive knowledge of heavy lift and heavy haul equipment, means, and methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with others and lead people to high-performance outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to act confidently and decisively to avoid escalation.
  • Understanding of Work Face Planning implementation and demonstrated ability to review detailed work plans for fatal flaws, poor optimization, and interface issues.
  • Working knowledge of 3D models.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and interface and communicate effectively with others.
  • Recognized degree in an engineering/scientific discipline or technical college diploma from accredited institutions, or specialized courses in construction technology and management, and/or work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the field.
Preferred Qualifications/Training
  • Working knowledge of SmartPlant Review (3D model) and SmartPlant Foundation.
