About the Role

Empower Simcoe is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Developmental Support Worker - Specialized to join our team. As a Specialized Resource Coordinator, you will provide quality support to high-need individuals residing in our Treatment Home and Specialized Resource locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily support for individuals in their homes and community, respecting their independent choices and abilities.
  • Assess individuals' needs and develop plans to support essential life skills, such as meal preparation, budgeting, communication, self-care, community participation, and employment.
  • Play a vital role in the completion of Ministerial Licensing, ensuring documentation and interactions with Ministry representatives.
  • Participate in team meetings to provide input and clarification on plans and protocols.
  • Provide quality supports based on behavior support plans to meet physical, medical, and emotional needs.
  • Foster independence and actively participate in planning for individuals and their families.
  • Complete required documentation in a timely and effective manner.
  • Administer medications and document dispensing in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate family participation in individuals' lives.
  • Support individuals with budgeting, banking, and purchases, and complete necessary Agency documentation.
Requirements
  • Community College Diploma in Social Services or a closely related field from an accredited college.
  • Registered Behavioural Technician certificate is an asset.
  • Minimum of one year recent full-time work experience supporting hard-to-serve adults with complex care needs in community residential settings.
  • Experience supporting individuals with behavior management techniques is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond calmly in crisis situations through approved verbal de-escalation and physical intervention techniques.
