Position Overview

The Jewish Federation seeks a highly motivated and experienced Community Director to lead our USY program in the Lower Mainland. This key role will focus on unifying and integrating teen engagement efforts in the region, providing support to Conservative congregations and enhancing the missions and core values of our partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive teen engagement strategy to increase participation and membership numbers
Build relationships with local professionals, Conservative congregations, and other Jewish organizations to create opportunities for collaboration and growth
Recruit, train, and empower teen leaders to take active roles within the USY community
Stay current on issues and emerging trends impacting Jewish teens and integrate these into leadership development opportunities
Frame a positive and supportive work environment that reflects USCJ's shared staff values of collaboration, dedication to the mission, generosity of spirit, innovation and adaptability, integrity, solution-oriented, and striving for excellence

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Jewish Education, Jewish Studies, or a related field
2-5 years of relevant work experience
Passion for USY's mission and commitment to empowering Jewish teens
Significant knowledge of youth development, teen issues, and emerging trends
Experience in immersive Jewish education and strong understanding of Jewish youth culture
Demonstrated people-management and coaching skills, including conflict management
Excellent relationship-building, leadership, and facilitation skills
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience with budget planning and tracking
Knowledge of how to successfully engage teens on social media platforms

Working Conditions

Monday through Friday, with attendance at evening meetings and weekend programs as needed
Requires travel for site visits, programs, conventions, and other events as needed
