Job Summary

This is a senior-level position that requires expertise in operational risk management. The successful candidate will provide support to the risk management leadership team, enhancing their ability to anticipate and manage operational risks effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design and execution of essential operational risk and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Lead operational risk and regulatory compliance reviews, providing expert feedback on the operational risk impact of major change initiatives, process improvements, and transformational projects.
  • Execute risk and control assessments, including working with stakeholders to develop action plans where risks are outside of risk appetite.
  • Act as a line of business head delegate to support controls, including control assessments and annual attestations.
  • Perform operational risk program elements, including review and sign-off on integrated risk profile assessments, risk appetite and key risk indicator refresh and reporting processes, targeted reviews and root cause analyses, and RPA risk assessments.
  • Manage critical evidence, archives, and reference material, including minutes, operating procedures, guidance documents, and supporting evidence for operational risk programs.
Requirements
  • Professional designation in risk and/or finance, such as an MBA, CPA, or CFA.
  • University degree and recognized industry qualifications, including industry securities, options, futures, or investment management courses.
  • 5-8 years of combined knowledge, skill, and background in operational risk practices, audit, or compliance functions, securities operations within one or more businesses in the financial institution or comparable businesses.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and research skills, as well as advanced desktop skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to deal effectively with senior management and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to present information effectively.
  • Consulting mindset with a focus on making strategically aligned business recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent knowledge of wealth management and RBC's products, processes, and organization.
  • Strong knowledge of wealth advisory, investment management, and financial planning front-office and back-office activities.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management and related front-office and back-office activities.
  • Familiarity with Canadian investment regulatory organization (CIRO) rules and requirements.
