Real Estate Development Manager

The Real Estate Development Manager is responsible for leading the development team in the preparation, application, and approval processing for various development applications, including rezoning, subdivision, site plan control, development permits, and building permits. The role will oversee the BC-based development team, comprising in-house designers and external technical consultants, on all aspects of the design and approval process, including research, site/building plan coordination, application preparation/submission, and deadline management for multi-family and mixed-use projects in Ontario (Ottawa) and Winnipeg.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the work of in-house designers and external consultants to assemble site and building plans for projects.
- Preparing and submitting materials for various development applications, including rezoning, subdivisions, site plan control, development permits, and building permits.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of municipal and provincial policies, including zoning bylaws and local regulations.
- Collaborating with planners and city administration on city processes and approvals.
- Managing external consultants to ensure timely delivery of materials required for approval.
- Ensuring administrative and regulatory duties, such as rezoning, development permits, and building permits, are managed promptly and efficiently.
- Assisting with engagement of city or government agencies and public consultations related to development applications.
- Representing company interests at relevant meetings.
- Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with city and administration staff.
- Supporting the acquisitions group with site evaluation, including initial concept planning.
Requirements for success:
- Post-secondary education in Urban Planning, Planning/Architectural Technology, Project Management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge of the municipal planning process, including zoning bylaws, statutory plans, policy plans, and technical studies related to development.
- Training and experience in Project Management an asset.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed research and analytical skills.
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience with Public Engagement.
