This role provides critical support to our veterinarians, ensuring the highest level of care for our patients. As a Registered Veterinary Technologist, you will be responsible for assisting with anesthesia and surgery, maintaining hospital equipment, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians with patient care, including administering medications, performing treatments, and collecting specimens.
- Conduct laboratory work, including hematology, biochemistry, and microbiology tests.
- Perform diagnostic and medical procedures, such as radiography and ultrasonography.
- Monitor patient vital signs, inputs, and outputs, and provide emergency care as needed.
- Assist with humane euthanasia and other duties as assigned.
- Provide education and updates to clients on patient care and treatment.
- Update clients on patient status and perform discharges.
- Create discharge/home care instructions and perform callbacks as needed.
- Clean and maintain equipment, including anesthetic, laboratory, and x-ray machines.
- Ensure accurate recording of patient fees and supplies.
- Stock supplies as needed and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Successful completion of a veterinary technologist program accredited by the Canadian Veterinary Medicine Association (CVMA) and registration with the BC Veterinary Technologists Association (BCVTA).
- Experience in delivering high-quality customer service and excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to fulfill physical demands of the job, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects.
- Understanding of safety requirements and precautions when working with animals.
