Job Description

The Human Resources Compensation Specialist will be responsible for administering all aspects of total rewards programs, including compensation, retirement plans, benefits, and disability management. The incumbent will conduct analysis, interpret results, and make recommendations to support the development and maintenance of effective total rewards programs. Additionally, the HR Specialist will maintain the Company's Human Resources Information System (Workday).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct job evaluations and compensation analysis to support ongoing talent acquisition and organizational design needs
  • Ensure compliance with pay equity legislation by conducting regular analysis and meeting regulatory filing requirements
  • Maintain job profile/description database
  • Work with local and extended team to support the annual merit process and incentive pay plans
Total Rewards Programs:
  • Primary contact and advisor for employees on benefits and retirement inquiries, liaison with key external benefits and retirement services providers
  • Ensure group benefits are administered in accordance with plan documents, company policies, and legislative requirements
  • Coordinate the annual group insurance rate renewal process
  • Manage disability claims, work with insurance companies or provincial worker's compensation boards to develop effective return-to-work plans
  • Responsible for day-to-day administration of defined contribution pension plan and group savings plans (RRSP, NRSP, & TFSA)
  • Facilitate pension governance process ensuring all plans administered in accordance with company policies, legislative requirements, and CAP guidelines
  • Coordinate all plan member communication, presentations, and employee education sessions
HR Systems/Payroll:
  • Operate as resident Workday expert for local HR team and employees – provide training, analysis, and other support as needed
  • Ensure Workday updated correctly with new hire, job change, and termination details
  • Develop custom and ad-hoc reports as required
  • Participate in testing and roll-out of new Workday functionalities
  • Work with payroll department to ensure that Canadian payroll is administered correctly and assist employees in resolving any payroll-related inquiries
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • University degree
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in human resources
  • Demonstrated knowledge of group benefit plans, retirement plans, and job evaluation
  • Ability to build relationships as a trusted partner with internal clients and external vendors
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience with Workday or equivalent HRIS
  • Bilingual (Eng/Fr) an asset
