The ideal candidate will have the ability to proactively contact clients, establish rapport, and discuss the claims process while explaining applicable benefits. You will guide them through the claims process, understanding their unique needs while providing empathetic support.

Your expertise will also involve managing and negotiating claims through the dispute resolution process, ensuring effective reserving practices, and issuing claim payments on a timely basis. This requires strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders, including clients, and manage their rehabilitation needs effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Investigating, evaluating, and negotiating accident benefits claims of low to moderate complexity
  • Maintaining clear and timely communication with clients, providing updates on the status of their claims, addressing inquiries, and guiding them through the claims process
  • Identifying and resolving challenges that may arise during the claims process, with a focus on always doing what is best for the client
  • Collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Reserving case claims in line with company best practices

To excel in this role, you will bring a Bachelor's degree in a related field or CIP designation, along with two years of relevant experience. Basic knowledge of regulatory and contractual obligations (Alberta Insurance Act) is required, as well as basic knowledge of medical and legal terminology, vocational rehabilitation concepts, and disability management principles. Advanced knowledge of English, both oral and written, is essential due to the nature of the duties or work tools, as well as interactions with English-speaking partners, members, and/or clients.

A competitive salary of $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience, reflects the importance of this role in Desjardins Assurances. Based on the location, we expect candidates to be able to work from the office 2 days a week in one of our locations: Aurora, Mississauga, Burlington, or Calgary.
