Job Overview

Dufferin Concrete, A CRH Company is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor - Occupational Health and Safety to join their team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the company's health and safety standards are met and maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate, promote, and conduct various OH&S programs and activities to meet overall company safety requirements.
• Conduct OH&S assessments and periodic audits, implement health and safety strategies, and action plans, and advise management on OH&S policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
• Build a strong safety culture by promoting the philosophy that safety is a value associated with every priority and is non-negotiable, and creating a safe and healthy work environment based on employee involvement, ownership, teamwork, education, training, and leadership.
• Coordinate training and development programs for the concrete business unit, analyzing and assessing training needs, selecting vendors, developing and delivering training presentations, and updating training records.
• Actively support preventative injury initiatives, focusing on SIFs (Serious Injury or Fatality), and be visible to provide leadership, coaching, teaching, and mentoring in occupational health and safety.
• Coordinate the Health and Safety Management System to meet overall company safety requirements and provide leadership, coaching, teaching, and mentoring in occupational health and safety.
• Assist in the design of standards, programs, and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury, and implement audits and inspections to validate adherence to company policy and laws and regulations.

Requirements

• University degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and acquired work experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in Health and Safety, preferably in the industry.
• Possess a valid driver's license (Class G or equivalent).
• Sound knowledge of OH&S principles, policies, procedures, and regulations, and provincial legislation and regulations (WSIA, OHSA).
• Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
• Sound working knowledge of the large construction projects and the rail industry, if applicable.
