Job Summary:

The Electrical, Instrumentation & Automation Engineer will oversee all Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) aspects of engineering related to dry vacuum pump and liquid ring pump/compressor systems to ensure all project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget and schedule are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret electrical and instrumentation specifications ensuring global standards and safety codes are adhered to.
  • Direct designers and technicians from conceptual design through production and testing.
  • Assist in the development of electrical schematics, BOMs, control panel drawings, junction boxes and ladder logic diagrams.
  • Review and approve electrical designs including drawings and BOMs.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines and other departments including purchasing, QA, and production.
  • Assist in developing control narratives or sequences of operations.
  • Review quotations and proposals from vendors.
  • Provide input for electrical, instrumentation, and controls sections of the IOM manuals for end users.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial electrical design, preferably chemical, oil & gas sectors.
  • Instrumentation including control valves, flow meters and transmitters (pressure, temperature and level).
  • Sound knowledge of instrumentation, electrical and controls.
  • Demonstrated design experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
  • Versed on the relevant national and international standards as they apply to electrical, instrumentation and controls.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, CSA, FM, UL. P&IDs, process flow diagrams, electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams.
  • E-Plan, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, fieldbus topology, experience with PLC/HMI programming software.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with rotating equipment and pumping systems.
  • P.Eng. (or eligible in Ontario).
  • Knowledge of process piping systems and associated equipment including vacuum pumps, liquid pumps, motors, heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
