Job Overview

The successful candidate will assume shift responsibility for operating and maintaining building essential services in a safe and efficient manner. This includes operating and maintaining electric, gas, and oil-fired boilers, large centrifugal water chillers, and associated auxiliary equipment.

This role requires effective communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with all levels of Hospital personnel. The incumbent must be able to interpret mechanical, electrical, architectural, and pneumatic drawings and technical manuals. Experience as a shift engineer, preferably in a healthcare, commercial, or institutional setting, is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain building automation systems, making adjustments when required to ensure normal operation of all building plant systems.
  • Efficiently manage daily operations, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency of facilities and equipment.
  • Monitor and report on facility conditions, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

This position involves working independently outside of regular working hours and assumes responsibility for all areas under jurisdiction. A strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity are essential for effective job performance.

Requirements
  • Diploma or certificate in a related field, such as engineering technology or a trade.
  • Proven experience as a maintenance engineer or similar role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work effectively in a computerized office system environment.

A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check are mandatory conditions of employment. Compensation for this role includes an estimated annual salary of $93,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
