About the Role

The Senior Director, Advancement, School of Medicine, leads the strategic development of Simon Fraser University's principal and major gift fundraising program, including the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for the School of Medicine. In alignment with the University's and AAE's values and goals, the Senior Director provides leadership to realize the School of Medicine's priority projects at the transformational gift level. The Senior Director establishes strategic plans to secure and close integrated complex gifts to benefit the University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans to secure major gifts for the School of Medicine.
  • Lead a team of advancement professionals to cultivate and solicit gifts from key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key donors, alumni, and community leaders.
  • Collaborate with University stakeholders to identify and prioritize fundraising opportunities.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecasts to achieve fundraising goals.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Arts or Business Administration and eight years of related experience in developing strategic fundraising and cultivation strategies and leading dynamic, effective and sustainable advancement programs, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of development programs including major gift, patron, individual direct response, legacy, corporate, foundation and special events.
  • Demonstrated success in closing gifts of $1 million or greater in a complex organizational environment.
  • Excellent coaching, mentorship and team building skills.
