At Via HFR, we are redefining passenger rail service on behalf of the Government of Canada. Our goal is to create a new sustainable train network that will run faster, more often, and be more reliable between Toronto and Quebec City. The HFR project is Canada's largest infrastructure project in generations.

We are seeking an experienced Vice President to oversee the rail, engineering, and integration activities of the project. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Project Management, this position requires a deep understanding of rail design and construction, exceptional analytical and collaboration abilities, ensuring the successful development and delivery of the project within scope, budget, and schedule.

The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction and leadership for all rail, engineering, and integration aspects of the project. They will oversee the engineering aspects of the railway system, focusing on tracks, signaling, power, and electrical systems, and integration with rolling stock.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing comprehensive project plans, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation strategies to meet project milestones and deliverables.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and standards related to rail engineering and construction.
  • Developing and managing cost estimates for rail, engineering, and integration activities, including cost estimation, tracking, and control measures.
  • Identifying potential project-related risks and developing mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
  • Implementing quality assurance measures to ensure that the rail, engineering, and integration work meets industry standards and project requirements.

Prior experience in project leadership roles, particularly in large-scale infrastructure projects such as rail, transportation, or construction projects, is highly desirable. Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve project goals and objectives, are essential.

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred). Minimum of 15 years of experience in the design and development of linear projects.
