About the Role

Clio is seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer - Scalability and Reliability to join our team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our MySQL databases and related systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable and reliable database infrastructure to support Clio's growing business needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement database roadmaps that align with business goals and application requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve performance issues with MySQL databases, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain automation processes to power reliability of Clio's datastores.
  • Provide expert guidance to development teams on database best practices and optimization techniques.
  • Elevate database knowledge within the team and contribute to the growth and development of junior engineers.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying knowledge to improve Clio's database infrastructure.
Requirements
  • Hands-on experience with building and configuring MySQL database servers, with a strong understanding of database design and optimization.
  • Experience investigating and resolving performance issues with MySQL databases.
  • Proficiency in using ProxySQL and the Percona toolkit.
  • Ability to work with and develop the MySQL knowledge of the SRE team.
  • Portfolio of successful projects, including lessons learned from failed projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using migrations tools, such as pt-online-schema-change or gh-ost.
  • Experience managing hosts with Puppet.
  • Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing with Ruby or GoLang.
  • Experience managing AWS resources with CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Experience scripting with BASH.
