Pharmacy Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of medications to our patients.
Responsibilities will include preparing, packaging, and dispensing medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, as well as participating in quality programs and patient safety initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to work with automation, inventory control, and medication reconciliation.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in pharmacy technology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. About YouWe are seeking a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
- Licensure and registration in Nova Scotia as a Pharmacy Technician (NSCP) required
- Drug administration by injection technical permit (Pharmacy Technician) an asset
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Experience as a pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant, preferably in a hospital, an asset
- Knowledge of sterile technique and special precautions used with chemotherapy are an asset
- Experience in unit dose drug distribution systems, automation technology, decentralized medication dispensing cabinets, an asset
- Knowledge of medical terminology, inventory control and record keeping
- Demonstrated good decision making and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medications
- Knowledge of the law and regulations pertaining to the receipt, storage and distribution of prescription and narcotic drugs
- Basic typing skills or computer/keyboard experience; skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, etc.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

HoursPermanent / 100% FTE / 75 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and BenefitsRegistered Technician: $26.97 - $28.97 Hourly
(Pharmacy Practice Assistants: $23.19 - $26.27)
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
