Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technology Specialist to join our team at FortisBC. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our business systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, configure, and implement information systems, data centres, virtual infrastructures, and networking components.
  • Develop and maintain information systems, data centres, virtual infrastructures, and networking components.
  • Provide advanced technical support and system administration.
  • Coordinate and recommend major system upgrades, integrations, and segregations.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly variance reviews and reports.
Requirements
  • Completion of a two-year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Eight years' relevant technology experience.
  • Have or able to obtain GCIP Certification within 3 years.
  • Industry relevant certifications are considered an asset.
  • Immediate knowledge of Data Centre technologies, virtualization, storage, backup, networking, security, and all related supporting infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge in programming/scripting and/or database query languages.
  • Superior interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Competency in managing large to enterprise-sized projects.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, including ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with focus on ensuring the delivery of high-quality accurate and reliable data in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task deadline-driven tasks.
  • Superior ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Superior working knowledge of enterprise security concepts such as Security & Risk Management, Asset Security, Security Engineering, Communication & Network Security, Identity and Access Management, Security Assessment & Testing, Security Operations, Software Development Security, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License.
